When welcoming a Basenji dog into your home, it's essential to be well-prepared with the right equipment to ensure their comfort, safety, and well-being. Holy Land Sunset Serenade understands the importance of equipping Basenji owners with the necessary tools to provide optimal care for their beloved pets. Here are the key pieces of equipment every Basenji owner needs to have:
ID Tag
Ensure that your dog's collar always has an ID tag; it's an inexpensive and straightforward accessory that can help return your Basenji if it runs away.
Basenjis are known for their tendency and desire to escape, and this small accessory can prevent heartbreak. PLEASE DO IT.

Quality Leash and Collar
A sturdy leash and comfortable collar are must-haves for daily walks and outings with your Basenji. Look for a durable leash that can withstand their active nature.
Basic Leash. An ideal leash for a basenji is a training leash that is 4-6 meters long. This length allows the dog to have space to explore the environment around them while still being under control. I have found a good leash in a good cost here.
Double Leash. If you have two dogs and need a double leash, there is a great option available from one of the best manufacturers. This double leash features secure safety brackets and is priced relatively high.
Collars. Using a Martingale collar can be a good choice for preventing dogs from slipping free. While I haven't noticed any negative effects on the neck or trachea, it's important to note that individual experiences may vary. It's always a good idea to monitor your dog's comfort and behavior when using any type of collar.

Many Basenji owners prefer these types of collars:
When it comes to regular collars, I consider Ruffwear to be the highest quality and safest option. For example:
Food and Water Bowls
Choose durable, safe food and water bowls that are simple to clean and resistant to tipping. Stainless steel or ceramic bowls are ideal for Basenjis. I came across a great elevated Non-slip Dog Feeder Stand with Double Bowls, featuring 6 adjustable heights made of bamboo and including 2 stainless steel bowls for neck protection.
Comfortable Bed.
After testing various beds destined for disposal, I discovered that a quality blanket performs excellently. Here are two great options. Option 1, Option 2

You can observe that Mika enjoys biting the blanket, especially when people come into the house. It appears to be a stress reliever for her.
